About Dr. Thompson:
In addition to private practice, Dr. Thompson is a Staff Associate Psychiatrist at UCLA. She is a graduate of Cornell University, and completed a post baccalaureate premedical studies program at Columbia University before continuing on to medical school at State University of New York, Downstate College of Medicine, in Brooklyn. Dr. Thompson completed two years of residency training as a general surgeon at the University of Southern California before electing to become a psychiatrist and completing psychiatry residency at UCLA.
At UCLA she received intensive training in psychopharmacological treatment and therapy modalities including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, and interpersonal therapy. She was the Chief Resident in the UCLA Women's Life Center, a widely acclaimed outpatient treatment clinic devoted to mental health care for peripartum and perimenopausal mood disorders.
Prior to her career in medicine, Kirsten was an Asset Management Associate at JPMorgan in New York. During that time, she undertook multiple volunteer positions which ultimately led to the path of becoming a physician.
